I have a couple of blogs for crafting, one of my passions. I decided to start one for history. I love love LOVE history! My favorite historical period changes with my moods :) Right now, I'm obsessing about the Civil War (that's the American one) from 1861 - 1865. Another favorite period of history is the Tudors, the Viking movements, the Westward Expansion, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, and the USSR (prior to Stalin .. just a preference, not a political statement LOL).
I enjoy the exploratory periods also. I don't know much about some periods (geographical areas especially) of the South and Central Americas or the Mid East, the Far East or Africa. I'm working on changing that now.
I have some college level courses and would like more. Actually, I'd like to finish my BA. I started it years and years ago .... one of those "I took a year off school" and 30 years later I'm still struggling to finish it up. One hold up was I didn't like the choices I had locally in the historical concentration at my local (small) university, however that has changed now. So, if I can get the finances worked out, I'm considering returning to formal education. One other consideration is (the preferable one) on-line, or distance, education. Because I live over an hour from any university or community college, returning to school isn't that simple fiscally (re: horrendous gas prices, etc.). Also, I'm not certain that I'd return to the work force due to some health considerations. So, online education is looking better and better.
If you have any thoughts for a good, reputable online education, let me know :)
I'll start blogging soon. Currently I'm reading a series of books (historical fiction) on the Civil War and will have thoughts on those and on the historical battles, peoples, politics, geography, etc., later.
